From Dublin to Orlando
Emerald Plumbing gets its name from its founder's home. Liam Cuddy is originally from Dublin, Ireland, where he began an apprenticeship as a plumbing pipefitter at 15. He worked in Australia, Holland and England before landing in Orlando in 1990, and he founded Emerald Plumbing in 1996.
Training people the right way
Liam has a strong view on the trades: for decades, he says, people have been trained by others who were never trained properly themselves. Emerald's answer is to train in house. About 90% of its staff were trained by the company, so they "only know the Emerald way."
Taking care of the team
Emerald says it treats its staff exceptionally well, with top pay, health care, three weeks of paid vacation and retirement benefits. The result is a team of long-time employees, which the company believes shows in the work.

Emerald handles every kind of residential and commercial plumbing, from repairs to remodeling, and offers 24-hour emergency service. Its specialty is repiping: the company has repiped thousands of homes and businesses, including high-rises and medical offices.
